I just changed out my site and it wouldn’t stop bleeding! In fact it is
still bleeding now 10 minutes later. Is that weird or what? Just wondering
if anyone has ever experienced this before? I have it packed in gauze right
now. Hope it stops soon. –Jeana Ü

Hi - I’ve been looking for a newsgroup for Type 1 diabetics, but
there aren’t any that are very active. So I thought I’d join just
for the other discussions on complications, new technologies, and
other things we have in common.
I’ve had Type1 diabetes for about 25 years now, since I was 8 and 1/2
years old - not long before Halloween! But I was a strange kid
anyway, not liking most candy.
Since then I’ve battled compulsive eating, and trying to stay on a
meal plan of sorts (Still haven’t tho.) –
I use Ultralente and Humalog - one unit for each 15 - 20 grams of
carbohydrate.

I have a suspician that I am starting to go through the early stages of
menopause. How can I find out what questions I should ask my endo and what
effects I should expect?

I have been meaning to give a reminder to the list. If you are having some
problems that don’t seem to fit into our regular test look into sleep apnea.
If you have headaches, find yourself falling asleep or feeling very sleepy
when watching TV, driving, during a meeting, if you have irregular
heatbeats, kicking while sleeping, some one has told you that you stop
breathing or make loud noises while sleeping, PLEASE go for a sleep study.
Sleep apnea is most often diagnosed by the person and NOT the doctor. It
can be fatal.

Hi All,
I have the minimed 508 and now going thru the intensive training classes.
I am at the nutriton classes with 1 to go then my one-on one to set the pump
on etc…
My problem is learning the carb thing. I have a grasp on it somewhat but
I have been told that anything under 5g is not to be counted. And basically
you can eat anything you want but must count these CARBS. I thought the
idea was to watch the sugar intake and calories to so that you would not
have to bolus yourself more than what you would need.

Hi!
I’m Faith, 32 year old SAHM (stay at home mom) of an almost 4 year old
girl. I just started using the Diestronic H Tron last month, so I’m
really new to it, and still getting used to it.
I’m anxious to hear what everyone has to say and hopefully learn some
things as well

First off hello to all the new people!
Just thought I’d give everyone an update on where I am at getting my pump.
I turned in my paperwork yesterday to get approval for my pump and supplies.
They said I should have approval by Wednesday or so. Once I am approved they
will send my information to the pharmacy who will take my order and ship
everything out. After that I’ll go to a day long appointment to get
everything set-up… So in theory I could be pumping in two weeks or so, I
am so excited!
On another positive note, apparently the carb counting has made some major
improvements. My Hemoglobin A1C was 7.4 on June 1st, July it’s down to 6.2.
All other tests they ran were good with no problems, so I am very pleased.
Honestly I have spent most of my adult life avoiding doctors and test. When
this whole process began I was a bit worried what they might find, but they

I have been using the Ultra flex set for about 2 weeks or now. A pattern is
developing, they work well for about 36 to 48 hours and then my control gets
poor. The simple solution may be to change everyday but if I have to change
everyday I would probably opt to go off the pump for a while.
I have tried every other set at this point with little success. I used the
Tender 2 for a long time but it became time for a set change, I tried all the
Minimed sets but they did not work well at all. A disetronic rep is coming to
see me next week hopefully he has some suggestion. I’m trying to hold on to
using the pump for as long as I can but looks like if I do not find a solution
soon I will switch back to shots for at least 3 months.
Thanks
Frank
