another question

June 27th, 2007

Sorry, but I forget who is on the Disentronic H Tron Plus…. but this
may be a general question…..

Do you know why or even if it IS necessary to change the infusion set
other than when you change the site? Just seems like a waste of 20 units

Faith, just curious

WORST (COMPUTER) VIRUS EVER!!!

June 23rd, 2007

—- WORST VIRUS EVER(CNN announced) —
**********************************************************************

A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive ever! This virus was discovered
yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed.
This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where
vital information for its functioning
are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself
automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A Virtual
Card for You." As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the
computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the
ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys
Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Yesterday in
just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according

Switch to Novolog

June 21st, 2007

I just switch from Humalog to Novolog, for some reason I’m achieving better
control with Novolog so far, I have been using it for 10
days. I heard the only difference is the way it is manufactured.

anemia

June 20th, 2007

Hi all,
It seems like I remember that there is someone on this list that suffers
from anemia. Am I remembering correctly? If so, I need your input. I am
slightly anemic (hct is 22 and normal is 35-48) and wondering if my taking
iron will help bring me back to normal. If so, how long does it take? The
reason I ask is that I have kidney damage and wondering if anemia is just
part of the kidney disease I’ll have to live with or will I be able to
correct it. I’m assuming if my kidney disease gets worse, the anemia may get
worse. Any input would be greatly appreciated. I waiting the results of my
creatine clearance kidney test. Last time I was tested I was 49. I’m
hoping I’m not worse. We’ll see. They also are testing my thyroid, CBC,
hormones, etc. Don’t we just "love" all these tests? –NOT!! TIA, Jeana Ü

hoocked

June 18th, 2007

Hey,
Well finally I’m on the pump! It’s been a long 5 months, but
yesterday I finally was put on. I just got out of the hospital this
morning after being observed over night. So this is actually the 2nd
day for me being on it(I have been before but that was with salean
fluid). I’m still trying to get use to the (whole) feeling of it on
me. And I have to figure out a way to sleep with it, but other than
that, I’M ON!!!!!

BP-I’ll try again, easier to read

Hi, IÕve been on before, not for a long time, though. The
conference greatly helped me get started with my pump. Type 1 for 43
years. Just had my 50th birthday!
Started pumping April 26, this year.

The 508 has been great. I have only used the QuickSet and the
QuickSerter and have found them to be more than I ever expected. I
have never put the needle in
myself. The inserter is handy and easy to use. So I feel no guilt
using it all the time. In Toronto, Canada we only have 3 hours of
training, but we can call the
trainer to get her help during regular working hours. IÕm still
having some trouble with basal/boluses, but it really is a time for
trial and error. But I do love
