A FABLE……PG

There was an old man, a boy, and a donkey. They were going to
town and it was decided that the boy should ride. As they went
along they passed some people who thought that it was a shame for
the boy to ride and the old man to walk. The old man and boy decided
that maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.
Later, they passed some more people who thought that it was a real
shame for that man to make such a small boy walk. The two decided
that maybe they both should walk.
Soon they passed some more people who thought that it was stupid to
walk when they had a donkey to ride. The man and the boy decided maybe
the critics were right so, they decided that they both should ride.
They soon passed other people who thought that it was a shame to put
such a load on a poor little animal. The old man and the boy decided

July 12th, 2007

Chrissy, I DID get it and replied privately, but it might have gotten
lost in the ozone so I’m glad you checked here. Anyway, I’m definitely
coming, planning to phone you on arrival Saturday afternoon, and looking
forward to seeing you Sunday!

Yipee! Medicare approval received, finally.

July 11th, 2007

Hi all,
Hubby asked me to share the good news with you. He finally got a "Medicare
Summary Notice" showing Medicare is paying for the rental of his pump and all
that goes with it. The best part is that his secondary insurance (retirement
benefit at a very reasonable cost) will pick up the rest of the cost. That
insurance requires him to use their supplier, National Diabetic Pharmacy, Inc.,
out of Salem, VA. They’d been supplying all his stuff already, and had said
they didn’t see a problem with Medicare approving the pump, but ya never know so
we’d sort of been on pins and needles.
It sort of made him feel better after that hospital stay earlier in the month.
We’d been trying to figure how to buy the pump if Medicare had denied the claim.
With his multitude of physical problems, it’s nice to know that at least his
diabetes can be kept under control!
Take care out there!!

Hi everyone

July 10th, 2007

!
Ive been MIA a bit have been on my insulin pump for a bit now and
though im sticking with it i think this just isn’t working for me.
Ive been so sick the last 2 weeks in hospital once and my bs has been
very unbalanced im 600 one second and then 70 the next i just feel
so unwell all the time.
Did this happen to anyone when they first started?.
The medical advice ive received is that my body is just getting used
to the new change and a new way to give my body the insulin.
Im fine with the carb counting ive been doing that for years since
my insulin even on shots was 1/c so i was very used to the system.

addys needed

July 7th, 2007

Over the last 4 weeks while my hard drive was being replaced, I saved some
private messages coming in to me so I’d have those addys when I returned. I
just installed O.E. 6.0 and when I rebooted all 86 messages were deleted.
:((( I have been corresponding with some of you privately and if you want
to hear from me again, please send a message of just Hi or whatever. This
ain’t what I had planned. ;)

how often change

July 7th, 2007

I change the site every three days, but change the syringe whenever it
runs out…which is usually about five days.

I remember asking on here last year whether there was any truth to the
notion that insulin spoils faster in hot weather, and got lots of
opinions (mostly "no, it doesn’t") but realized that even though I live
in Phoenix where Sunday’s high was 114, I spend all my time in air
conditioning anyway. Still, I’m gonna start keeping an eye on the bgs
when the syringe is close to running out and see if they might be going
higher then.
