bg meters/Consumer Reports
This is interesting — a guy in my office who knows I’m diabetic brought
in his copy of Consumer Reports because he thought I’d like to read their
article on diabetes care.
Most of it was stuff we all know, but they had a good chart on eleven
different blood glucose meters. Consistency means giving similar
readings on successive tests of the same sample; accuracy means how
closely the readings agreed with standard lab results. Here’s how they
ranked (in order):
1. ONE TOUCH ULTRA

downloads to computer, high temperature range, lancet ejects, lancet cap,

cleaning.

I was given a Precision QID pen and wondered the same thing. Have heard LOTS
of bad stuff about the DEX. Also, the Accu-Chek Complete was developed
especially for pumpers and that wasn’t on the list. I still like it. ;(~_^)

I really like the Complete. It is bigger and slightly slower than most, but
it is extremely accurate. You can store 1,000 readings, do trends, averages,
log on your carb amounts, view graphs, etc. Want to know your average for
the breakfast bg’s for the last 30 days? Or the last 14? Get an Accuchek
Complete!
