Mike,
If you are using your fingertips for testing, don’t. You should use the
*sides* of the fingers where it isn’t so sensitive and you can get more
blood. I’ve been doing this for 19 years and even have to tell medical
people sometimes who don’t know that trick. When they go to jab my tips, I
twist my finger or pull back until they listen to me! (~_^)

Hi Marcus: you’re fingersticking the wrong places…if that’s why they’re
sore. Try the sides, you’ll be surprised at the result. In the meantime,
treat them…clean and use a good emollient to tone them up…Joan:)

i do but lately the blood has been very light and ive exhausted all
areas on the sides. I tried for a while on the arms (you know the new
one)and that just isn’t working either looks far worse then having
them on the finger tips.

Do you warm your hands in hot water first to increase the blood flow?

The only problem that could occur with this shaking is what a friend did
(non-DMer). She was washing beans to can and had a leaf on the back of her
hand - she shook and shook to get it off and the resulting sprain put her in
a cast for several weeks and after 2 years is still in therapy. I suppose
something like that could happen to a DMer, too. ;(

oh yeah i always so shake it always have ever since i was small but
on rare times my blood just clots sometimes very small volume goes
out and other times more then required comes out.
Nightime if it is cold i always warm up my hands ,shake them and if
there is only a bit coming out then i turn my hand downwards so the
blood can flow down.
