Tomorrow’s the day……

The nurse will be here about 8:00 AM tomorrow to get me going on the pump and
truthfully…..I am terrified. Did anyone else go through this?

Kelly, I think we all did. And usually, the anticipation is much worse than
the actual event! Right now it’s all new and strange, but you’ll get it all
down pretty quickly, and soon you’ll be an old pro.

It’s sort of like meeting the President. You might be terrified, but you’re
still just shaking hands with a man, after all! :-)

    oh my goodness yes!!!!!
As with most things in life, it’s easier than it appears if you’re persistant
    and determined!

    Kelly-
I was terrified, too!! I think I checked my BG every half hour the
first day! Now I love the pump and would never willingly give it up!!
Hope your first day went well. Let us know!

You’re making me reach back 18 years ago TODAY for my pump start. ;) It took a lot of guts for me to insert that metal needle into my
abdomen that I bent myself with the 40" of non-polyfin tubing attached
and leave it there for 3 days! That was in the days of ironing and I
was concerned about the heat affecting the Regular insulin in the
tubing. I had to devise ways of making *me* comfortable with that
needle to keep the fire pain from discouraging me and *trying* to hide
that checkbook box-sized black pump. It took me a year to decide I
wanted to do this, but the fear of foot amputation(s) convinced me.

No, Kelley, you are NOT alone in your apprehensiveness. Next year
you’ll be teaching newbies how to do it with ease. (~_^)

Jan (not liking 1-hr. a day at the liberry ’til my PC returns) ;(((((

Thanks to all who responded to my original post. It wasn’t nearly as terrifying
as I had thought it would be. I am already seeing much lower numbers and
feeling so much better. Just a few short days into it and I am wondering how I
ever functioned without it. : ) Thanks again for all the support.
