anyone experience this before?

I just changed out my site and it wouldn’t stop bleeding! In fact it is
still bleeding now 10 minutes later. Is that weird or what? Just wondering
if anyone has ever experienced this before? I have it packed in gauze right
now. Hope it stops soon. –Jeana Ü

You have a gusher. Direct pressure is the way to stop it bleeding. They
are not uncommon. Have had 1 in almost 2 years of pumping.

Jeana, I have, but only once. I remember in our pump training they taught how
to stop it just in case. DIRECT PRESSURE! It’s not common, but certainly
not unheard of. Don’t freak out, it’s not an emergency.

ack! being a newbie that kinda scared me…. did it hurt???
I had one last week that was too close to the skin. Didn’t realize that was the
problem until I took it out and could see a line from where it was just under
    the skin. OUCH!

Jeana: mine has done that when I’ve let the set stay in too long. But
bleeding that long……..see the MD and get a CBC and PT/PTT done…..got to
check anemia and your clotting time….it’s taking too long……Joan:)

When I inserted the cannula a few days ago, it hurt just a tiny bit. I even
commented to my dh that I must have nicked a vein. I actually like it when
it gets close to a vein because the absorption of the insulin is better and
I usually have really good blood sugars. When I took it out, it just bled.
No pain at all. I grabbed some tissue and put pressure on it and what
freaked me out is how long it took to stop. The term "gusher" definitely
fits. I think it was just scary because it has never happened before. Now
that it has, I won’t freak if it ever happens again. Now that you know
about it, you’ll be fine because now you know what to do. Good luck. I’ve
been on the pump nearly 5 years and this is the first time. Love, Jeana Ü

Well, I know I am anemic. My hematocrit was 22 (normal is around 40 I
think) in the hospital. I’m also on aspirin so my blood is thin. I see the
doc on Friday so I’ll talk to her about it. Thanks for the
    suggestion. –Jeana Ü
