<< Joan I would love to get that list. I didn't pay attention when you
posted it before. Shoot with all the drugs I take now I won't even notice a
few dozen vities and herbs

Catie >>
Ok Kiddo: "THE LIST"
L-arginine 1000mg bid (2x/day) - don't get one with any additives (Solgar
is a pretty good brand) I've gotten reasonable prices from puritanspride.com
Great stuff! Especially for those of us with the toe-curlers of leg cramps!!
Give it about two days....wake up with a major difference.....this I take
religiously!!!
Vit. C 500 mg bid - antioxidant
Vit E 400 IU bid - antioxidant, blood thinner
Folic Acid 1- 4 mg. ( most over the counter come in mcg tabs usually 400 -
800 mcg......1000 mcg = 1 mg.) prevent anemia. Us dm'ers get it often.
<!--more-->
If you eat plenty of dark green leafy vegs and an orange, then you can leave
out the pilll on that one)
Vit B-6 50 mg once a day - for anemia
Aspirin - low dose - 81 mg. bid (hold this if you are on any blood thinners
like coumadin )- the above you can search out on Dr.Joe's website....used to
be diabeteswell.com, now diabetesoneonone.com I think....I'll send it on
next e-news I get.
The research is showing definite benefits to using the above.....and can
counter some of the cardiovascular changes related to hypertension, DM, and
heart disease.

Cranberry capsules ( not cranberry juice) if you tend to get bladder
infections.....the tannins in the cranberry skin is what neutralizes urine
and makes it more difficult for bacteria to grow. No heartburn and no
calories to speak of....
Evening Primrose Oil - for us ladies (sorry guys) even if perimenopausal.
comes in 500 mg caps - one a day.
within a month, you'll notice quite a difference in the pms.
Flaxseed Oil - 1 cap 3-4 times / week....linolenic acid.....antioxidant.
for Nausea - ginger root capsules 1-2 work great. Guilt free, no calories.
I usually find the 500 mg. ones give or take. Just don't megga dose. Too
much ginger root can cause too much blood thinning.
Leave Gingkoba biloba alone if you are on any anticoagulants (again aspirin,
coumadin, warfarin, heparin), leave it alone. Known to cause major problems
and can conflict with other medications.
Same with Ginseng - any kind....is an immune system antagonist.....should be
used cautiously. Same with Golden seal and echinechea. All must be used
with prudence.
Lecithin - 1200 mg 3-4 x / wk.
the National Institutes of Health has an alternative medicine site....
www.nih.gov then click for alternative medicines. Joan :)

<< I have a suspician that I am starting to go through the early stages of
menopause. How can I find out what questions I should ask my endo and what
effects I should expect?

Catie
>>
Hi Catie:
you aren't menopausal until you haven't had a period for over 1 year. Ask
about ERT - HRT - hormone replacement therapy. You should have a baseline
bonedensity study if you haven't had one yet, as well as regular gyn = Pap
smear should now be a Thin Prep....more accurate.
Baseline mammogram if you haven't had once yet, and should be doing regular
BSE breast self exams monthly....Joan:)
