loaner vs refurbished
When my MM508 died a few months ago, I wanted it back after
refurbishment — only because of sentimental value, figuring we’d been
through a lot together <g>. But because I wasn’t sure whether they’d
actually send back the same one, I copied down the serial number before
shipping it to MM.
They returned one that looked the same, but the serial number now ended
with a G rather than a 5 (or some such variation). I called and they
said "that means it’s been refurbished, but it’s still your original."
Once I had it hooked up, I recognized the original’s pace and sound –
just a tad different from the loaner and from the one my CDE lent me
until the loaner arrived. It was good having my old friend back!
Laurie, who can’t think of any reason to request the original EXCEPT
sentiment
