Joan,
thanks for the advice! I use the 43" so I don't think that it is a tension
problem. I think that it is just that particular box. I have an
appointment with my pump trainer tomorrow, I will see what she has to say.
I am also trying to get in touch with minimed, but my office has been crayz
and I always seem to get interupted before I can make the call. UGH!!! it
has been on of those weeks again! Chera

I am hoping that you might be able to provide some advise to help me
get rit of some of this frustration. I use the shiloettes, for the
past 2 weeks I am replacing them sometimes 2 times a day. They don't
seem to want to stay in place not matter what I try. I use ivory
soap, I don't have access to a pool or anything like that. For no
apparent reason it keeps pulling out. Needless to say it is making
it difficult to maintain good control. I have been using the pump
for 4 months now and I have never had problems like this! I do see my
CDE/pump trainer on the 13th, but I was hoping to have this figured
out before then. ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!! Chera >>
Hi Chera: I used the Silhouettes when I first started pumping. I reacted to
the catheter, and the adhesive, and had to stop using them. One thing you
didn't mention was the length of the tubing you use. Do you get the shorter
<!--more-->
sets??
Its possible that there is too much tension on the tubing which might cause
the set to dislodge. It could also be that you got a bad set of
administration sets, so I'd make some calls if it's all from the same batch.

When we first started pumping we had straight needles that came straight out
of the tubing and bent them to the correct angle ourselves. A very important
instruction was to make a loop in the tubing near the site (about 2" away) and
tape that down. If the tubing had a tug, it would uncurl the loop and not yank
the set out. Perhaps you could try that even though you use the silhouette.

Barbara,

She is on vacation until tomorrow. I left a message on her voicemail to
PLEASE call me in the morning. She is really great about responding to
messages like that. I do have the option of calling the on call physician
but I don't want to because this line is for emergencies. so far today has
been okay. I am keeping my fingers crossed! Chera

Your CDE/Pump trainer is the person you should be discussing
this with. Have you called this person? are they not
accessible?

<< Yes, I put it in at an angle and use the IV prep first and wait for it to
dry. I usually have no problems but for some reason the past two weeks have
been very frustrating!!
>>

I have no idea then. Ive been using them for about 2yrs now and have never
had any trouble w/them sticking and staying. Chrissy
