<description>I had been using the AccuChek Advantage, but my
fingers were a sore calloused mess so I switched to a
FreeStyle Meter yesterday.

It only requires a miniscule amount of blood to get a
reading and with so much arm space to choose from it's
a real blessing...no pain or strain.

Any thoughts on this???</description>

<description>I have no problem with accuracy specifications with the well respected meters.
They all seem to perform well.

I have been using one touch for over 12 years, and never had a calibration
problem. I find that repeatability is more interesting than absolute accuracy.
If you get the same reading in two or three repeated measurements, this at least
means that the system is consistent. Then you can compensate for absolute
error. The Fast Take does an equivalent job, and since it is smaller and
faster, I like it.

<description>No, they didn't! So a marketing ploy wins again?

But, are there any real advantages here? It takes me 15 seconds to do the
other stuff while the thing is running, so I don't gain a thing with 5 seconds.
No fingers? I am so used to the finger sticks, I don't notice them at all. No
gain there, either.

But, if Medicare pays the bill, does selling the new strips help them or me? I
think it helps them, and hurts Medicare, if they cost more....

<description>*I* think the *hilarious* thing about the Ultra and the 5-second feature is
the amount of time the pumping of the lancing device takes to get the spot of
blood from the arm it needs takes away the benefit of the quick timing.
Personally, I'll trust my Accu-Chek Complete with it's 45 seconds and my Pen
meter at 30 seconds. It may be different (well, it is) for many others. (~_^)

<description>Yes; I have been using the Fastake for two months now, and am sold! But
they just sent me an offer to obtain the new version (ultra?) which
reads in 5 seconds and can be used on the arm and other places. So are
they pushing this to replace the Fastake?

		<description>Stephanie,

Congratulations on the start of your pump!! It is an awesome little device
isn't it?! The being attached part gets easier as time goes on. I can't
even tell that it is there most of the time anymore. I was like you at
first, the more I thought about it the more that I could feel it. Now I
love it! You could not pay me all of the money in the world to go back to
multiple injections again. My blodd sugar control is the best that it has
ever been. Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your progress!!

Anyways! For those of you that remember i was going to start my pump on the
29th of last month and i did!!!! :-) :-) I cant believe this thing!!! I have
been non stop activity from the moment i left the hospital! ALL my sugars
have been 60-135!!!!!!!! AHH!!! :-) I am soooo excited about this!!! The
only thing is that I am still getting used to the idea of it being attached.
For the most part im fine and dont notice but when i actually think about
it being in me, it only then starts to itch and bother me! Its like all in
my head i think! :-)
I have so much more to say about it but, its given me so much freedom that i
