HELP!!!
I am having a new problem with all the same circumstances. My tape just
isn’t sticking! I am getting water under the tape when I shower and then it
(the water) just sits at my infusion site. It is lifting and then the
infusion set is pulling out. Now I am getting welts from the tape.
I use I.V. Prep, and Tegaderm. I have used this for about a year now but
this is just happening. It could be because it is the first summer that I
have been active outdoors. I am now showing my dogs and the out door shows
are HOT!!!
Someone please help if you can, I did see in the book "Pumping Insulin" that
they suggest "micropore" tape but I don’t know what that is or where to get
it.

Catie,
Funny you should mention that, just this week I have had to cahnge my site
every day! The tape won’t stick for anything and the infusion set is
pulling out. I have been pumping for 4 months exactly today (YIPPEE, kind
of gives a new meaning to indepedence day for me..LOL) and Ihave never had
this problem!! I can’t even say that I am sweating more or anything like
that. At least then I could understand it or if I had access to a swiming
pool or hot tub. This is a brand new box that I just opened at the begining
of the week. I am wondering if there isn’t something wrong with the tape
not being sticky enough? I ran into 2 people with pumps in the mall
yesterday, we started talking about the pump (yes, everyone in the store
thought we were crazy, but there are so few pumpers in this area, it was
exciting..LOL) the one lady is an IV nurse, she suggested that after you
prep the site and it dries and you insert your set to use the IV prep again
around the edges of the tape and that helps to hold it a little bit better.
SHe said that they do this is the hospital with IV’s. I tried it and so far
so good (at least for today anyway). Good Luck and if you find a solution
please pass it on to me. Have a great 4th of July!! Chera

I will try this. Just wipe the edges down again? I will let you know if I
learn anything else.

You can also try some unscented roll-on deodorant and let it dry - then prep
the site as usual.

Have you changed the brand of bathing soap you are using?
Be sure the soap has no cream, bath oil, or lotion in it.
Even a small amount of soap residue will affect the
adhesive.

Catie,
After you have your set in place and the tape is down, just lightly go over
the edges of the tape with an IV prep.

This made me think. A couple of times I have asked people if they had pumps
Chrissy
and it was just there pager! LOL Then I would have to explain to them what
a pump is, which is OK. Ive never been embarrased by by DM.
