Meter question again

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Hello,

I was in Sams Club last night and noticed they have their own meter, the name of
which I forget. The most interesting thing about the meter - price
- the meter itself is, as I recall, around $9.00 and the strips are under $40
per hundred. I test quite often and tend to run low on strips before
my prescription is due for renewal. The price of these strips holds
considerable appeal, but before getting yet another meter thought I’d check and
see if anyone has tried this Sams Club product?

Thanks

I am frustrated!!!!!!!

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Hello everyone,

I am hoping that you might be able to provide some advise to help me
get rit of some of this frustration. I use the shiloettes, for the
past 2 weeks I am replacing them sometimes 2 times a day. They don’t
seem to want to stay in place not matter what I try. I use ivory
soap, I don’t have access to a pool or anything like that. For no
apparent reason it keeps pulling out. Needless to say it is making
it difficult to maintain good control. I have been using the pump
for 4 months now and I have never had problems like this! I do see my
CDE/pump trainer on the 13th, but I was hoping to have this figured
out before then. ANy suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!! Chera

Question on readings

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Hello all,

I was given an At Last meter and hundreds of test strips, which I don’t use
because it reads 20-30 points different than my Advantage - both
calibrate as correct with testing solution and/or test strip. I’ve used the
Advantage for several years with good results, but would like to use
all those free strips and the At Last meter when I run out of Advantage strips
before my prescription is due for renewal.

Anyone have any experience with the At Last? The last one did the same thing so
the company replaced it.

If it were always 20 points or 30 points, I would just adjust the reading number
to match what it would be on the Advantage, but I just to don’t
trust it to read that way all the time (paranoid?)

soon to pump+ new glucometer (elite XL)

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

Hey all,
sorry that I haven’t posted in a while. Anyway, some time this up
coming august I will be put on the insulin pump. I would have been on
it before the summer but we had a hassel with my new heath insurance,
I went from Blue Cross to an HMO. So in short my doctor wasn’t
covered by the HMO and we had to find a doctor to refer him. *I’m
glad thats almost ð

Well in other news today I received a regular shipment of testing
supplies and to my suppries I had received a free glucometer
the "Elite XL" I heard it takes the smallest sample of all
glucometers in the world. Any way I was wondering if any one else
uses The "Elite XL" and if so what do you think of it?

Well I hope this makes up for the month(s) of niglect to the group

tape

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Hi all,

First time posting to the list and am glad to be here.
I have had the greatest success with a tape called
Hypafix made by Smith and Nephew. It comes in a 10 yd
roll. It is the best I have found as far as adhesion
and non-irritating. After 10 years of Texas summers,
I have never had a problem with it.

Still using an MM506 until I get some insurance again.

HELP!!!

Sunday, November 12th, 2006

I am having a new problem with all the same circumstances. My tape just
isn’t sticking! I am getting water under the tape when I shower and then it
(the water) just sits at my infusion site. It is lifting and then the
infusion set is pulling out. Now I am getting welts from the tape.

I use I.V. Prep, and Tegaderm. I have used this for about a year now but
this is just happening. It could be because it is the first summer that I
have been active outdoors. I am now showing my dogs and the out door shows
are HOT!!!

Someone please help if you can, I did see in the book "Pumping Insulin" that
they suggest "micropore" tape but I don’t know what that is or where to get
it.

Nutrition Info

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Some time ago I saw a book that listed the nutritional
info (# of carb/fat/protein grams) for fast food and
franchise restaurant offerings. I went to Barnes &
Noble and they couldn’t help me; I’ve also searched
bn.com and amazon.com and come up empty.

Please point me in the right direction…..

Infusion Set Not Covered!

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

I just started a new job recently and signed up
with and HMO thru Cigna. When I tried to order some
new infusion sets (disetronic tenders) for my
pump (MM 508) they told me that those supplies
are not covered. I also found out that they
cost around $275 per box. They also could not
fill my prescription for One Touch Ultra test
strips. Insurance companies are so lame but
I guess it’s better than nothing. I think.
If anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears.
