I checked the weather for Indianapolis for Saturday, June 23, 2001 and it’s
looking pretty nice: A good deal of sunshine
High 85 / RF 81. Low 61/ RF 62. Max. UV 8.

Let’s see if I have this straight, Catie, Connie, Gail, and Jan from this list
(with spouses) are meeting at Shapiro’s Deli, 800 block South Meridian at 1:00

I have to agree with Patrick. I have neuropathy and some arthritis. It was
becoming difficult for me to angle my hand to get the insertion in fast
enough. I was ending up with crimped tubing. Then one day Jan told me about
the Softserter and I called MM and they sent me one free.
Oh BTW I have been pumping almost 20 years and have been DM for 44.

NEW MEDICARE AND MEDICAID AGENCY

It’s out with the old and in with the new. The Health Care Financing
Administration (HCFA) is now the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
(CMS). It’s more than just a new name - it’s an increased emphasis on
responsiveness to beneficiaries and providers, and quality improvement.

Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson made the announcement

Some of you will remember Kevin Kolkhorst who was on this list for awhile. He
wrote the post about his 5 y/o dtr. and how DM is not good nor a wake-up call.
He was dx’d with DM at 15. He and his dtr. both have pumps. I corresponded
with him a few times and he also joined another two lists I was on.

I still mailed him stuff, and one day this spring his wife posted me asking if
I knew anything about him. Also, the Nasau Co. Police Dept. called me asking
what I knew of him. He and his wife had had a few words and he left
without any more info. He left all his pump supplies and insulin. I told the
detective he would have to have an Rx to get them, as well as Humalog if he
was using it. They had no clue.

Yesterday I received an e-mail from his wife asking me to call her. I tried
this a.m. and she wasn’t available, then this afternoon I tried and her father
answered. He asked how he could help? I told him I was from the internet and
