Stefania, hang in there!
>Maybe I started with too much enthusiasm
Stefania, I hear you! That’s exactly what I did, and it made things
harder…but it’s an incredibly easy mistake to make, because all you
hear at the beginning is the good stuff about pumping and it’s such a
letdown to discover it’s not all sunshine and roses.
What worked for me (aside from all the GREAT practical suggestions Joan
listed) was setting a deadline. I told myself "you have to stay on the
pump until July 19 because then you can tell everyone who swears it’s
wonderful that you DID give it a fair shot and decided against it."
So most of the first month (or whatever length of time you pick) was
just slogging through, waiting until the magic date when okay, I could
say I’d tried and go back to shots.
By July 19, with all the help/support from this group, I decided I could
hold out until August 19. And then, until September 19…and so on.
But if I’d planned up front to stick with it for a full year (or worse
yet, a lifetime) — uh uh, no way, wouldn’t have happened.
You might want to think in terms of "one month at a time" or "one week
at a time" or whatever works — and then, if by some particular date you
feel like it’s STILL not working, then feel free to give it up! I don’t
know anybody who ever has, but of course they wouldn’t be on this loop
anyway <g>. And for me, knowing that I COULD give it up made things
better.
Good luck with all the learning…it really is an incredible amount of
stuff to learn, all at once like that. But let me add to the chorus of
voices insisting, "It DOES get better."
It does. It does.
Let us know how you’re doing!
