More about C-Peptide and Medicare

In looking further, I find that Medicare has adopted a policy that uses
c-peptide as a means for allowing or disallowing the pump in diabetics. The
paper referenced below details how and why this decision was made.

I knew that Medicare was now covering pumps, but did not know that this was the
criteria used to approve usage. Also, I understand from Minimed that they
will not pay for a 508;, only a 507C, and, they lease/rent them from Minimed.

Since I have a 507, the best that Medicare will do for me is get a 507C!
Hardly worth it.

Now, I find, that even if I go to Minimed and pay cash for a 508, Minimed cannot
legally sell it to me without first having Medicare decline coverage for me!

Talk about confusion in government…..
