Getting rid of tape residue
Hi, I’m a new pumper (about 1 month) on the 508 and loving it. I had
one question–does anyone have tips on removing the tape residue that
is sometimes left after removing an insertion set (I use the
Silhouette). I know there are commercial products like the Unisolve
Adhesive Remover Wipes (I haven’t tried it yet), but I was hoping to
find some simple home remedy solution instead of spending $15 for the
wipes.
Thanks,
Roshan

Hi,
I have notice that when using the IV prep wipe, if I don’t let the area dry
completely before putting my set in is when I get the most residue. If I
make sure that the area is completely dry I usually don’t see the residue.
I also use the Silhouette and the 508. I have been pumping for about 8
weeks. I am loving it as well. Best of luck to you and I hope that my tip
may be of some help to you. Have a great day! Chera

Hi you said you were using the Silouhette. Do you also use tape w/that? I
never use tape just the sticky stuff thats on the little circle thing. Is
that what you are talking about? If it is I dont know cause Ive never had a
problem w/tape residue. Chrissy

I would love to hear an answer to this as well. I didn’t even know there was a
commercial product.

Roshan,
I’m a lazy pragmatist; I simply peel like hell until the stuff it gone;
sometimes it hurts, sometimes it works, but its free.
There is more stuff to relieve pain around that sort of works badly; my
attitude is, ignore these if possible. I always thought that band aids
were only for the benefit of Johnson and Johnson.

Try a little bit of nail polish remover on a cotton ball.

I’ll try the baby oil first, not only will it get rid of the tape
residue but it will leave my skin feeling oh so soft.

When my hair needs a hot-oil treatment I use baby oil - good stuff.

Hi Roshan: plain, old rubbing alcohol…..soak a cotton washcloth and
gently rub the adhesive off….might take a little bit but it works….Joan:))

My suggestion is to lay an IV3000 or Tegaderm down FIRST and then put your
site in on top of it/through it. The IV3000/Tegaderm does not leave any
residue and I find that the adhesion is better that way anyway :O)
YMMV!
