Hello, I am a new pump user
Hello everyone! My name is Chera, I live in Reading Pennsylvania, I
am 30 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 1997. I have been
using the Minimed 508 for about 8 weeks now. I absolutely love
it!!! I don’t know anyone in my area that uses a pump, so I am just
looking for a way to get/share information with other pump users. I
look forward to hearing from group members. Have a great night!

Hello Chera, welcome to the club. I am 29 years old, soon to be 30.
I also have a Minimed 508 for 7 months now. I also love it!!! I’ve
had diabetes since age of 1. The pump has brought much more freedom
and control than the 4-5 shots a day I was taking.
I am still learning "the tricks" of wearing the pump and using it.
So far so good. I have managed to find ways on how to hide the pump
when wearing a dress, how to keep the infusion set from coming off,
etc.
You will find that this club will be very helpful. There are
many "pump veterans" in this club that share a wealth of information.

My doctor is Dr Lathrop, my CDE is Sue Jones, my dietician was Jill before
she transfered to Peds. I love that place as well, they are fantastic!! Do
you go to any of the insulin pump support groups there?

Jill is my dietician! She is marvolus! I love her soo much! She is the best!
I have gone to some insuiln pump support groups there!
I think they have them like once a month or somthing.
I was at the last one. Have you ever gone to any of them? Let me know!

Did you go to the one that was in April I don’t remember the date but it was
on a Wednesday evening? The one where Jill spoke about eating habits, and
then they showed everyone the new insertion set etc? Wouldn’t that be weird
if we have seen each other?

I sure was there!
I was the cool chic sitting right next to Jill while she was talking about
eating habits. I think they are allways on wednesday nights!
Dude we must have seen each other.. is there a way we didn’t?
Yea I saw Bernie talk about the new set I am inlove with it I am using it
now I love it soo Much!

This is too weird! I know exactly who you are. I was sitting next to Sue
at that meeting. I probably looked very tired as I had been there all day,
had a morning appointment with Sue shopped all day and then stayed for the
support group meeting. This is weird, what a small world!! I just finished
reading that book that Sue recommended and it was an awesome book!!
Unfortunatly I don’t think that I am going to be able to go to the June
meeting as I think that I am in Philadelphia that night at a conference.

Hello Chera,
Welcome!!!
I am also new to the group, however I have had my pump for several years. I
was diagnosed 12/79, at age 10. Currently living in Tampa, Florida, 30
something with a two years old and a fourteen years old (stepson), and
maintain great health (mostly all attitude driven)
So far lots of informative and interesting info, there is a pump support
group at one of the local hospitals, but it was so hard to get to and I did
not seem to connect to anyone, so here I am.
I wish you luck with your pump and hope to talk with you again on the group.
