Getting rid of tape residue

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Hi, I’m a new pumper (about 1 month) on the 508 and loving it. I had
one question–does anyone have tips on removing the tape residue that
is sometimes left after removing an insertion set (I use the
Silhouette). I know there are commercial products like the Unisolve
Adhesive Remover Wipes (I haven’t tried it yet), but I was hoping to
find some simple home remedy solution instead of spending $15 for the
wipes.

Thanks,
Roshan

Question regarding travel

Saturday, June 24th, 2006

Hello everyone!

I am going on vacation in 2 weeks. I will be flying to Florida, any
tips for traveling with the pump would be greatly appreciated. Also,
any suggestions for how or where to place the pump when wearing a one
piece swim suit? I am clueless with this one. Thanks for your
help! Chera

I tried a new site…

Yes, it is me again….the "bittocks" poster Ü
Well, I tried an insertion into the upper derriere and thought all was well,
but it did not work.
I had BG go up to 400 in like half an hour!! I took it out and could not
see any crimping etc, so I am unsure as to what happened…any ideas?
Maybe my "bittocks" was a little too padded????

Hello, I am a new pump user

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

Hello everyone! My name is Chera, I live in Reading Pennsylvania, I
am 30 years old. I was diagnosed with diabetes in 1997. I have been
using the Minimed 508 for about 8 weeks now. I absolutely love
it!!! I don’t know anyone in my area that uses a pump, so I am just
looking for a way to get/share information with other pump users. I
look forward to hearing from group members. Have a great night!

Free meter

Wednesday, June 14th, 2006

For those who have Kroger pharmacies, I’m looking through my Spring, 2001
Diabetes Digest they give away and on page 14 is a coupon for a free Accu-Chek
Advantage meter; the coupon expires 5/15/01. It is good only at Kroger, Frys,
Dillons, King Sooper, City Market, Ralphs, Fred Meyer, QPC, Smiths. It states
the free product offer may NOT be submitted to Medicare, Medicaid or private
insurance as a claim for reimbursement. This is common and it means the METER
cannot be claimed for reimbursement, not the 100 (or two 50s) Comfort Curve
strips it requires. The strips are reimbursable. Anyone needing a new meter,
you have until a week from today to get one free. (~_^)

Something New from MiniMed

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

Yesterday when talking with my CDE about my basal adjustments, she asked
me if I had a copy of the new workbook from MiniMed. The MM rep had
given her several copies of "The MiniMed Insulin Pump Workbook" which
has a 2001 copyright. MM may be sending these with new pumps or just
giving them to CDEs and pump trainers to give to new pump users, I
really don’t know. I picked it up today and have been reading through
the workbook. It seems to be a great tool. It covers setting up and
testing the basal, meal bolus and correction bolus with several pages of
step by step worksheets for each. It also has step by step worksheets
for Sof-Set and Silhouette set/reservoir changes. There is also a pad
of Daily Journal sheets that are perfect for faxing and copying. The
other features of this workbook are just too numerous to mention here.

I’m sure this workbook is mostly helpful for people who are new at
pumping, but the worksheets could be handy for the well experienced

Hubby’s on the real stuff

Saturday, June 10th, 2006

Hi all,
We have company so haven’t been on for a few days. Hubby started
with Humalog in his pump on Tues @ 9:15 am. He’s had some decent
readings, but has had some very high which I think may be due to
dietary indiscretion (8-9 carb exch vs planned 5, high fat intake,
and all at dinner) without compensation by bolus. His CDE connects
the readings to this given info on food intake. He also has been
getting panicky when he gets a glucose reading in high 80’s though
the endo is very pleased with this. Any clues, suggestions??? Oh,
please note the new E-mail address. Thank you all!!
Marj
Oh, Patrick, we’re in the SE coastal area of NC.

Insurance

Monday, June 5th, 2006

I just heard on the news that Maxicare insurance in Indiana is being
taken over by the state as it is going into receivership. I don’t know
what kind of insurance everyone has or where everyone lives, just
thought I would pass it on.
