Pump’s here!

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

Hubby’s pump arrived, and he’s seen the CDE once. He seems to have
difficulty understanding need to get to the proper screen to do an
action. He was told to try to set some random bolus amounts, but has
yet to try this. Think it will be a while before he even gets to the
point of using the pump with just saline. Any suggestions ???

Data Tracking Software

Monday, January 30th, 2006

I just got the One Touch software working, got the cables for both the Profile
and the FastTake, and voila! Everything worked like a charm.

This is the best tracking software I have used; it integrated to the data from
the two meters perfectly, presented useful reports, and was so easy to use I
never even looked at the manual.

Article on DM and pumping

Friday, January 27th, 2006

The following article was in our local newspaper yesterday, written by the
same journalist who did the story on my BASH (50th DM anniv. party 11/4/00) A
large picture of the ugly hog licking the stepdad’s face was included in the
article:

New Pumpers

Thursday, January 26th, 2006

Hello everyone!! I am new to the pump as well. I started this past Tuesday.
My choice of pump was the Animas R-1000. Very user friendly. I did the
saline trial with the Animas and the D-Tron from Disetronics. I will admit
that it was difficult to pick between the two!! I have been promised an
upgrade to the R-1000-A when it becomes available, because I frequently use
bolus’ of 10+ units. Does anyone else use the R-1000?? I enjoy hearing from
all users. So far, I have enjoyed the pumping. It is a great relief not to
inject 4+ times per day!!! Anyone interested in pumping should explore the
possibility ASAP. However, it does require the assistance of a enthusistic,
pump friendly endo. My previous endo was very set in her ways. Thank god for
my new endo!!!!

Friday afternoon I saw my endo for the quarterly checkup and showed him
the test-sheets with the pink-flagged lows and yellow-flagged highs. I
figured I’d beat him to the punch of saying "too many highs," and said
it myself before HE could.

He ruffled through the sheets and then smiled, shook his head and said,
"There’s no way to achieve perfect control. You’re fine."

Woo-hoo!

Loss of medical privacy

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

(received this from a doctor)
Loss of medical privacy

These regulations must be scrapped if you want control of your medical
records. The right to privacy will evaporate if these become law. This is a
way for uncle sam to know every intimate detail of your life by asking your
doctor for your records which he must give to them or face jail time etc. This
is not a joke or an overblown view of things but real regulations. Being put
on the books to kill your privacy as an individual. Please call your
congressperson. This is no joke. If you think this is over reacting, just read
them carefully.

Fw: good buy

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

Greets all,

So, this looks to me to be a great stock buy….disclaimer,disclaimer. Cygnus
(CYGN) has lost about 80% of its value over the last year (as goes the NASDAQ),
but they finally have a product: Right now they are 5 7/8.

soon to be a pumper!

Friday, January 20th, 2006

Last night I found out my mother had ordered the pump and she will be
receiving it at work today. I will not start it for a while because
of problems with my health insurance, but I can’t wait!
