FastTake Meter Problem
This AM I had a reading with the FastTake of 540!
I felt fine, and was rather shocked.
I repeated it with the OneTouch Profile; answer, 58.
I am certain that the sample was collected properly. Has anyone else had an
experience like this?

Nope - I’ve not had that kind of disparity of readings - my AccuCheck
Complete is generally w/in 5-9 pts in 2-quick-reading testing.
Even my Complete (primary) and Advantage (backup) meters are generally so
close as to be irrelevant.
Could the temperature of the two meters have had an impact? I sometimes
leave a meter in the car overnight and have to warm it up in the AM in order
to get accurate results
Perhaps that sugarcube in your coffee didn’t dissolve too well, and was
traveling in cube form through your blood this morning?

Or, perhaps that sugar cube residue was wiped off well with the first test.
Was it from the same poke hole?

Also, David, did you repeat the test on both machines = 4 tests and see the
end results?

I just used it a few times had had big trouble with the reliability of the
meter. Like I said I took my meter to the lab and it was only 5 points off.
When I wore the CGM for 3 days the test were very consistent with the CGM.
I took my fast take and tossed it along with that meter that has the
cartridges in it. I like accucheck products the best.

I had heard that there were problems with the FastTake when it first came out,
but that they have solved them.
Maybe not
But, I really like the thing. It is small, fast, and most of the time very
accurate; but a dramatically wrong reading worries me. They did offer to
replace the meter if I had any doubts. I have been using the profile for over
five years (since it first came out) and I have never had a problem with it.

Yes I did repeat the tests immediately; the Fast Take and the Profile were both
correct and agreed with each other. So go figure, I guess.

Yea, the sugar cube went directly to the strip, and bypassed the middle man.
