Jeana; Pump rhymes with jump, ergo, Kermit?

I just have to share a funny thing that happened. I got my Minimized 508
yesterday. (remember the 507 just broke) Minimed was nice enough to send it
out right away and then process all the paperwork.Ü Well, thinking the 508
wasn't much different from the 507, I plunged right in pushing buttons!.
Then I thought there might be some new features like the remote that I
should learn to use so I stopped experimenting and went and watched the
video. When I was done, I went back to my pump and started pressing buttons
and I couldn't change anything! I was really frustrated and thought "Oh
great! I've broken another pump!" After a few minutes of frustration, I
finally remembered one of the features the video talked about and realized I
must have programmed the "block" (for children?) to be on and didn't know I
had. I checked and sure enough it was on. I turned it off and now
everything works great. I got the green pump and it's kind of fun having a
<!--more-->
new toy. I think the remote will be wonderful when I'm wearing a dress and
the pump is in my bra! LOL Anyway, just wanted to share. Now I need a
name! Got to think about that one. Well, have a good day.. Love, Jeana Ü

Jan,
Thanks for caring, but I think I'm doing pretty well now. Watched the
video, read the owner's manual and it isn't all that different than before.
The few changes they have made make alot of sense to me. I do like the dual
boluses. Now I can bolus a normal and a square bolus together. I also like
that they don't count the priming insulin in with the daily totals. I also
like that they give you more than just a day's worth of totals. I am a
pretty mechanical type person. My dh says I'm the one who understands
"chips" in the family. He's referring to "computer chips" like TV's, VCR's,
Camcorders, Cameras, Computers and even the pump!! LOL My endo is the
person who trains everyone on the pump here in Alaska so she trained me
pretty well on the 507. She's quite the expert. Thanks again. Love, Jeana

> Jeana,
> Even though Chrissy thinks I know a LOT about pumping, THIS is the way to
fall
> through the cracks - not get training with each new one. I know they have
> manuals and videos, BUT if you get a human to teach you as though you have
not
> had a pump before, you'll be on top of it. Please call MM and see if they
have
> a trainer in Alaska for you. That should be included with your purchase.
