		<description>A MiniMed tech told me about the softener sheet. They are all required to wear
a pump (even non-DMers) and when the Santa Ana winds start, they are
instructed to touch something metal before touching their pumps. That's hard
to remember to do - at least for me. (~_^)

		<description>&#60;&#60; If the pump problem is static electricity - which is common walking across
carpets, playing in McD's plastic ball pits (NO, not me!), sliding across a
car seat, dry winter air, etc. place a 1/3-1/2 sheet of used fabric softener
in the pump case to act as a *lightning rod). Helps tremendously.
&#62;&#62;

That is such a good idea. It gets really dry in the winter out here in AZ.

		<description>I have had the same thing happen with my new 508. What Minimed told me
was that the pump has a built in safety and due to the static
electricity in the winter the pump will reset itself and check it's
programming whenever static discharges through it.

Don't worry. It's Ok! Just make sure your basal wasn't reset to 0.0

&#62; Hi everyone,
&#62; Tonight the weirdest thing happened. I went to give myself a bolus
on my
&#62; minimed 507 and the screen went crazy. Blank then a bunch a junk and
a &#34;VER
&#62; 40D&#34; message, then blank. I eventually got it to work after several
&lt;!--more--&gt;
tries
&#62; so was able to Bolus and the basal seems to be working fine. I can't
find
&#62; my manual so I was wondering if anyone knows what happened. I haven't
&#62; dropped it or got it wet,hot,cold, etc. I changed the batteries and
it
&#62; still happens. Maybe it's time for a new one? Any ideas?--Jeana ÿ</description>

		<description>&#60;&#60; Also, this is a
good reason to get a new pump at the end of a warranty - before it dies. (~_^
&#62;&#62;

Jan,

Do most insurance companies let you get new meters like that? Since Ive only
been on a year I still have a while b4 I have to worry about it. I just want
to make sure I get a new one b4 the warranty runs out. Do I just check w/my
insurance company or what? Just want to be prepared ahead of time. Thanks

		<description>Thanks Jan. They told me I could get the refurbished pump for $ 495 but
didn't tell me about applying the cost to a new one. Now I need to call
Minimed again. Thanks for the help. --Jeana Ü

&#62; Jeana,
&#62; Did MiniMed offer you a *loaner* (507-507C) for $495 to be applied to the
new
&#62; one and get it tomorrow? Call back and ask about it if not. Also, this is
a
&#62; good reason to get a new pump at the end of a warranty - before it dies.

		<description>Jeana,
I am still using the 507 as well; I think I will wait for the
unannounced new model (511?) before upgrading, though. The 507 works
just fine for me at this point.
