Advice on amputations
Hey guys,
I do not really ask too many questions here, but now is probably a good time
to start.
I found out today that my mother (also diabetic) had to have her leg (below
the knee amputated). I spoke to her briefly over the phone tonight. She
sounded like she was on heavy doses of medication.
On the whole, I am not the best person when it comes to showing care and
sympathy, although the feelings are there. I am not very emotional I guess.
It really seems to be unfair for her to have to go through this. She has a
better diet than I do, etc…. but it happened to her. And yes I know, there
is a lesson in all of this for me as well.
She lives 8 hours away. Her birthday is Thursday. I cannot get away from
work until Wednesday at the earliest.
Anybody have any "magic" words that I might be able to share with her to make
her feel better?
Thanks,
Bart

Bart,
I can only say I’m sorry this had to happen to her and wish her a speedy
recovery - as trite as that sounds. I am sorry.

Bart: tell Mom you love her, and mean it, then tell her about her using a
pump….Joan:)

Also so sorry. You always hope for a better year….this time last year was
diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic. Still fighting, procrastinating over the pump.
I hope better days and just give her the love you’ve shown for her in the past.
Prayers….Jim
