drat, lotta highs

Tuesday, October 25th, 2005

Feeling incredibly efficient tonight, I went through my charts for the
past two months and (using 85 and 135 as boundaries) pink-highlighted
all the lows and yellow-highlighted all the highs.

Probably one in every four tests was a high.

It floored me. I’ve been telling everyone, "oh, I love the pump, it
gives me better control," but that’s an AWFUL lot of highs! Maybe it’s
no worse than before I started pumping — I didn’t keep records then,
nor check more than twice a day — but gosh, it sure didn’t look like
the portrait of a Diabetic Under Great Control.

Has anybody else noticed such a thing? Am I setting my expectations
unrealistically, uh, high? Or should it be better than this?

I got it & question

Sunday, October 23rd, 2005

Hi all…

Yes I got the message, and converted over rather quickly (only took 2
tries!)

I actually have a couple of questions…

1) I’m looking for a software program that will help me track my
multiple problems, and allow me to track and start patterning the
interactions etc…(I have autonomic cardiac neuropathy, am getting
ready to start an exercise program in response, so need to track bg,
bp, dizziness, headache, tingling, stomach upset, meds, etc., etc.,
etc) This is a huge project for me. I currently use a MM508, and an
Accu-Chek Complete. I am terrible about remembering to write things
down, and often forget my meds that need to be taken during the day

Stem Cell Research

Funding At Issue
Washington, D.C., January 23, 2001 —Stem cell research - the promising avenue of
scientific inquiry that may lead to treatments and potential cures for diabetes
and other diseases - has been the subject of heightened media attention, as the
political, ethical and legal debate over stem cell sources and federal funding
continues. Recent articles in The New York Times and the Lincoln (Nebraska)
Journal Star update the current situation and profile families of JDRF
volunteers, who express both their hopes for the future of research in this
critical area and their worries about the future for their children with Type 1
diabetes.

>The warranty Laurie is for 4 years.

Thanks, Frank — you saved me the trouble of going through paperwork OR
picking up the phone. Talk about lazy…!

Update

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

Hi everyone. OK here is my story of my illness. I was vomiting and somewhat
dizzy for 6 days. I knew it wasnt the flu (no other symptoms). I ended up
in the ER cause I felt so bad. I was in there for hours and they didnt know
what was wrong. I had bloodwork for all sorts of things, even a head CT
everything came back normal. Sooooo the next day I went to my Endo. He is a
wonderful, kind, caring man. I love him. My stomache problem was my
gastropheresis and GERD giving me trouble. Im now taking my Reglan 4 times
per day ilo (in lieu of) 3 times. He gave me a different medicine for my
reflux disease. This has helped alot. I’m going to try and make an
appointment w/my ENT for the GERD.
As far as the wierd dizziness he seems to think it is a withdrawal symptom
from coming off of my Zoloft (anti depression med). I’m still having a few
wierd feelings w/my head but it is getting better. So thats what happened
basically. I was sick for a little over a week. Sorry to worry you all so
much. I was unable to get on line. All I could do was lie in bed and sleep.

warranty?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

Does anyone know offhand how long the MiniMed 508 warranty lasts? I
probably have that info somewhere in my paperwork, but it’s a lot easier
to just check email for an answer…if anybody’s got one. Thanks!

Pump problem

Saturday, October 15th, 2005

Hi everyone,
Tonight the weirdest thing happened. I went to give myself a bolus on my
minimed 507 and the screen went crazy. Blank then a bunch a junk and a "VER
40D" message, then blank. I eventually got it to work after several tries
so was able to Bolus and the basal seems to be working fine. I can’t find
my manual so I was wondering if anyone knows what happened. I haven’t
dropped it or got it wet, hot, cold, etc. I changed the batteries and it
still happens. Maybe it’s time for a new one? Any ideas?–Jeana Ü

CHRISSY

Friday, October 14th, 2005

Attn: Frank

Chrissy is on another list with a couple of us and the last we knew (more than
a week ago) she had done a basal fast and was trying to tweak her pumping
efforts for better BGs. She was very dizzy and vomiting and I believe even
went to the ER - at least to a doctor. We haven’t heard anything from her
since and I’ve been trying the methods I know to contact her to no avail.
Therefore, as listowner of another group, I have placed her on no-mail/web
only to not fill her mailbox. This way she still has access and is not
unsubbed. I have Cc:’d her on this post so she’ll see it, as well as on the
other list, too. Do whatever you think is best. I hope we hear something from
her soon.

Disetronic D-tron vs. Minimed 508

Wednesday, October 12th, 2005

Hello Group:

I have been using a Disetronic H-tron for about 5 years now. It is time
for a new pump now and I am considering both the Disetronic D-tron and the
Minimed 508 with remote feature. I should also say I am blind so audible
tones plus vibra tones is a must for my needs. I would like to hear from
users of either of these pumps and if you could share some of your thoughts
on pros and cons with these models. I recognize a different approach just
in the fact that disetronic is european and Minimed is USA manufactured.
thanks for any input here on this.
