which pump-help
Does anyone know about the minimed 511 and if this new pump will becoming
out soon? I am looking at the D-tron or the 508 . I like the idea of rmote
for the 508 but the d- tron sounds like a better motor, better delivery
system less cloging no static electric problems and waterproof. HELP!

Hi!
depends on what you’re looking for….I’m biased toward the Disetronic….I
see the new D-tron is available in the US now….best way to see which pump
you prefer (if there are no limitations on/with your insurance company) is to
contact each site. There are 3 now….disetronic-usa minimed animas
check them all out….speak to the co. reps or you can contact Insulin
Infusion
Specialists 1800 838-7867 and have their regional rep show you all of
them…their the largest supplier for all the pumps….Good Luck, Joan :)))

I just went through this process. I asked the MiniMed rep about a "511" and she
had not heard of it (although sometimes the sales people are the last to know).
I also asked how long I should expect my 508 to last. It is guaranteed for four
years, but should last twice that??? I asked how often my insurance company will
cover a pump. Much to my surprise, they will cover a new pump once per year. So
far, I love the 508. It is so easy to use. No need for me to wait for the next
best thing.
