colds, viruses, etc
Since the flu and cold season is starting, I just wanted to know something.
Do you, my fellow diabetics, get colds and viruses easily? I seem to be
able to resist them or get over them fairly quickly. I’ve often wondered if
my over achieving immune system that attacked my pancreas also attacks
viruses fairly effectively. Right now I have two kids sick and I had the
beginnings of a sore throat and headache and then it went away. When I do
get sick, I seem to be able to "will" the germs away. Maybe it’s just
motherhood. You know, moms can’t be sick if the kids are. LOL Once in a
great while (like several years) I do get pretty sick, but most of the
time, I escape the flu and cold season. Is that typical? Just
urious. –Jeana in AK Ü

Hi Jeana:
Thank the Lord for a good immune system! but, having Momitis is also helpful.
If you are around a lot of people, or if like most moms, kids bring what
they share home, it is wise to protect yourself with the flu shot and also
getting pneumovax as well. Keeping our glucose well controlled is helpful,
but nothing like helping mother nature along….Joan:)
