And, Jeana, while you’re at it, I’m lost on sahm! "Single-at-heart mom"?
Oh, maybe "stay-at-home"? Never mind…I’ll bet that’s it.

Anyway, welcome to the group!

Hi I’m new

Friday, February 4th, 2005

Hi everyone. I joined your group about a week ago and have been lurking to
get a feel for what everyone has been talking about. I have been on the
Minimed 507 for almost 4 years. I had some very frustrating challenges with
being allergic to the tape and getting infections at the sites but now I’ve
switched to the "silhouettes" and finally have it all under control.
Compared to my life without a pump, the pump sure is worth it–challenges
and all! I have been a DM type 1 for 32 years. (I’m 40 now) I sure have
seen many changes in my lifetime. I have had some complications and have
had laser eye surgery a few years ago and a quintuple heart by-pass last
August, but all in all I am surviving. I have been married 16 years to a
wonderful, supportive husband. I have a dd 13, dd 9 (both high risk
pregnancies), a ds 3 and a ds 14 months –both boys adopted. I used to
teach special ed, but now I am a sahm. Well, sorry this is so long winded.
I look forward to getting to know you better. Love, Jeana in Alaska –but
still a Californian at heart!

Arizona question

>Scottsdale, Arizona

Roni’s tagline and the knowledge that Chrissy lives in Tucson reminded
me…I’ve got a question for anybody living in 100+degree deserts!

When the MiniMed rep introduced me to the pump in June, she said "make
sure you change the insulin every other day, because after 48 hours in a
Phoenix summer it won’t be any good anymore. Once the weather cools you
can wait three days between site changes if the site’s doing okay."

I’ve been changing sites every other day (and LOVED being in Washington
and San Diego where I could wait three days) but wondered whether other
Arizonans have any experience with this business. CAN you go longer than
48 hours in summer?
