Update on lactoss deprived pumper

Friday, February 18th, 2005

Hi,

Thought I’d give an update on my state on the 6th day of no lactose
(well, almost no lactose - can’t seem to give up my 2 ounces of cheese).

Stomach flat all day and evening. BG’s running low almost all the
time. Still spike to 200 after meals, but by 2 hours I’m back in normal
range, and then shortly thereafter have to eat something - problem -
used to solve that sort of thing with yep, something containing
lactose! Haven’t yet found a new between meal snack that lasts, save
those diabetic fudge bars that seem to raise it for the rest of the
day. Strange to eat a bedtime snack - haven’t done that since I started
pumping, but, having awakened two mornings in the 70s, decided I’d best
eat something before retiring.

Benadryl

isn’t that great for my blood pressure. I feel weird when I take
it. Good idea, but I’m afraid it won’t work for me. Thanks for trying.
All this help is wonderful. Thanks for all of the posts. I can see this is
such a caring group of people. Love, Jeana Ü

Light in the winter. Was I’m new

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

Thanks Joan. Actually, I do have a light box, but last winter I totally
forgot to hook it up. With a new baby and recovering from heart surgery, my
mind was elsewhere. I just took it out of storage and have it near my desk
at the computer so I’ll start using it whenever I’m online. Thanks for the
reminder. I bet this will be my best winter yet. Love, Jeana Ü

Being tired

Wednesday, February 16th, 2005

Gail,
Have you ever gone to a sleep clinic? My mil (type 2 diabetic) also
struggles with being tired alot. I thought it was her Prozac since that’s
what it does for me. Her doc didn’t think it was the Prozac so she sent her
to a sleep clinic. My mil was diagnosed with sleep apnea too, but also
something else– restless leg syndrome. They hooked her up to monitors and
video and noticed she moved her legs alot when she slept. Everytime her legs
bothered her, she came out of her deep sleep so by morning she wasn’t rested
at all. They gave her a medication for it (not sure what), but it is
helping her. Just a thought. Love, Jeana Ü

Gals,
I took Wellbutrin for 10 years - until I joined this list and the ‘net -
laughed so hard it wasn’t needed anymore.

heat/not boring

Sunday, February 13th, 2005

>I am sure that this is probably boring news to you guys, but I am
>glad you are here for me to tell you anyway.

Bart, it’s actually kind of entertaining watching somebody go through the
drama without having to experience it firsthand. Like hearing about the
birth of somebody’s child, or watching a movie where somebody falls in
love…there are such huge ups and downs, and I enjoy it more remembering
it from a safe distance!

I’m amazed at all the hot-climate people who don’t have any problems with
three days…maybe I’ll try two and a half days and see how that goes.
But, boy, if anybody could get away with claiming "never in the heat,"
it’s me — I go from the office parking garage into the building and
back, and that’s about it for sun.

A good day today

Friday, February 11th, 2005

I had a good day today as far as the pump went. Started out today at 360,
but after that, everything was 90-107.

I am sure that this is probably boring news to you guys, but I am glad you
are here for me to tell you anyway. Only problem is that on the days where
the control is that good, I walk around always hungry.

I will catch you later.

Tincture of Benzoin

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

I am not trying to sell anything here, but if any of you are looking for
Tincture of Benzoin and having trouble finding it, (None of our pharmacys
carried it or could/would order it for me), I found a great mail order/web
site that carries a great version. It comes as individually wrapped
premoistened swabs, super convenient, and not very expensive. Send me a
note and put Benzoin in the subject line and I’ll be happy to send you the
link. It sure helps my tape stick, I know now why Michael calls it Gorilla
Snot! Sure is sticky! :)

How do you make the Degree symbol?

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

Hi all! OK, how do you make the degree symbol?

I live in SW Oklahoma and the heat here also kills the insulin after two days.
I’m outside a lot and ride a bike quite a bit . I see the numbers starting up
after like a day and a half of the
great outdoors.

Looking forward to winter, John

trucking with hugsband - 8/23

HOWEVER,
He has to be passing through this way for that to happen - which usually
doesn’t. Like if he picks up in Gary and goes your way he’s about 75mi. from
here to begin with. Bringing that load home to get me and then on to
wherever after he leaves *you* just doesn’t work. Besides, I don’t think his
company as yet has a ride-along program. I’d be a *sick bird.* (illegal)
