Update on lactoss deprived pumper
Hi,
Thought I’d give an update on my state on the 6th day of no lactose
(well, almost no lactose - can’t seem to give up my 2 ounces of cheese).
Stomach flat all day and evening. BG’s running low almost all the
time. Still spike to 200 after meals, but by 2 hours I’m back in normal
range, and then shortly thereafter have to eat something - problem -
used to solve that sort of thing with yep, something containing
lactose! Haven’t yet found a new between meal snack that lasts, save
those diabetic fudge bars that seem to raise it for the rest of the
day. Strange to eat a bedtime snack - haven’t done that since I started
pumping, but, having awakened two mornings in the 70s, decided I’d best
eat something before retiring.
Working on adjusting basals, but, my goodness, my insulin use is so far
down it is almost frightening to reduce basals any further. Perhaps I’d
best do a fast. Yuck! I like to eat!
Anyway, this lactose thing astonishes me. I never had any sign I am
lactose intolerant, no stomach upset, no heartburn, nothing. Never
considered lactose the cause of my stomach bloat through the day. Smart
lady, my gyn!
