skin-prep
A friend of mine had given me a box of skin-prep to use because the
tape
would keep coming undone during very humid weather. i live here in south
jersey. I’ve never used them, but now I need to. Can anyone tell me
exactly
how to use them and also how to get the stuff to come off when it is
time to
change the site. Thank you very much.

Hi Kathy: What kind of infusion sets are you using??
If humidity is a problem, de-fat your skin with an alcohol prep first -
wherever you are planning to place your set. Let dry and then use the skin
prep. Did you get the Smith & Nephew with the green label…I find that’s
the stickiest. I get everything ready, then apply the prep - leave it still
slightly damp and then insert your needle/set and secure the adhesive. I put
Tegaderm HP (very allergic person that I am) over that as a failsafe. The
tegaderm holds up with a couple of showers, I just use it as a lifter to pull
the set out when I’m changing. Warm water works well too. You can use
Unisolve, but alcohol works quite well to remove traces of adhesive with less
stuff left on your skin….give it a try and let us know how it worked for
you….Joan:)
