rapids?

Having just botched my third insertion attempt (the Sof-Set is IN, but I
messed up the tape that’s supposed to cover it) I’m wondering if the
rapids Kathy mentioned are a better bet. ‘Like an injection" –
injections I can do! What ARE rapids, anyway?

Laurie, still on the fence about this whole venture…

    Laurie,
I messed up the tape at first, too. I was so frustrated and ticked off.

The rest here has to do with sets. My opinion of the pump improved greatly after
switching to micros, so I think it is good to explore what sets work for you.
Can your pump team (dr. / pump educ.)get you samples? The company (MMed) also
    sent me more samples.

Good luck and it gets easier little by little. Once my dosages were set ( a few
months to do) my bg are so much better than pre-pump. Good luck!

Rapids are easier to insert but the draw backs are they do not have a
disconnect. They are a needle that is inserted straight in. They come in 3
different depts. You can call Disetronic and get a few samples to see if
    they are for you.

Could be worse….you could have a hairy belly too….

You will get it down, three times is still "like a virgin". The micro sets
are a lot easier, unless you have lots of "padding".

Today is my day. Biggest challenge will be getting by the dietician…she
wants me to be within 5% on any plate of food (carbo-counting). Good luck to
    you Laurie, hang in there…

    Hi Laurie: Joan here
Rapids are small right angle needles that are attached to pump tubing, and
are inserted same way as doing an injection, only leaving the needle
in…they have a small round plastic tab that you use to grip it and insert
go to Disetronicusa.com and check their products section and you’ll see them.
You can ask them to send you one or two samples to try. they come in 6mm,
8mm, and 10 mm needle lengths. I use the 6 and 8 mms. The 10 is just a bit
too deep for me. I leave mine in about 3 days depending upon the site. Most
of us that use then will tell you we "recycle" and reuse for another site to
    save money.
Only disadvantage, is they don’t have a quick disconnect feature like the
ssoftsets. So it’s a trade off. I find that I like the Rapids better, so
    give it a try! Joan:)
