long messages

Thursday, May 13th, 2004

I may be the only person who’s having this problem on digest, but all
the messages posted during the past couple days have shown not only the
new post, but all the OTHER posts that preceded it. Can anybody tell me
how to turn off that function? Thanks!

kidneys

Wednesday, May 12th, 2004

When my kidney function got to 35% I requested to be seen by a nephrologist.
My endo looked disappointed, but I reminded him of a patient who died that
dr. had said, "I wish he had come to me sooner." I didn’t want a neph to say
that about me. Instead of losing another 15% in 1.5 years, it took 5 years.
I’ve been pumping since 8/23/83, BUT I wish I knew more about the finer
points before 10 months ago.

telling at dx

Monday, May 10th, 2004

What gets me is that in 1950 when I was dx’d, twin girls were seniors in
college and they had been dx’d 15 years prior to that (’35). My friend (now
71) told me the other day no one ever mentioned they would die. I was
*presumed* to die (by my mother) but that would have been such a waste
educating TWO girls who were gonners! I guess we showed them!!! My dr. said
many things would come along in my lifetime to help DMers, but nothing would
ever help me. We’ve come a long way, Baby.
