I understand, they really can not advice you on medical matters due to fear
of law suits, so any new ideas will be immediately dismissed by them. I know
people who are having great success mixing humalog and regular in the pump
but when first brought up at our pump meeting it was considered far out and
could be dangerous but my educator also added in a few years it may be a
well accepted idea. The same thing is true for Humalog. When people first
started using it there were a lot of negative reaction but feelings have
changed quickly.

I met the head of R&D for Minimed at a meeting a couple of years ago, and
when I asked about Humilog and the pump he became very agitated aid said
that it was NOT approved for the pump.

Beyond that, nothing much was said, except I told him I had been using it
for some time, and it worked fine.

I don't think there is any insulin that has been approved for the pump
including Regular and Buffered Regular. Who has approved it for the pump?
The FDA, Lilly, Minimed. My educator told me there is know such thing as
any insulin being approved for the pump.

Actually its is at the discretion of the Dr. but humalog has not been
approved for the pump or children. the pump approval is soon coming but is
still used in both at the discretion of the Dr.

I think Minimed now is allowed to state that it is ok with the pump, but I
could be wrong. t\They used to be adamant that it was NOT allowed, but I
have seen much stuff from Minimed that suggests that this has changed.

The reality is that everyone I know is using it in the pump with great
success.

It is NOT approved for pump use (yet) and I have been using it for over 3
years. ;) I'm only 5 weeks shy of 61 though.

Does this mean that Humilog was NOT approved for people over 65 until now?
I am over 65, and have been using it since it came out.
