How’s she doing?
I forget the gal’s name who wore a pump 15 years ago while pg and was
considering getting one again. Can we have an update on her?

Jan, that was me — I saw the diabetes educator and was FLOORED at how
many things I don’t know! (She was equally appalled, observing that
"your retired doctor really DIDN’T believe in education.") So now I’ve
got a class scheduled for Monday night, followed by weekly sessions for
the next four weeks, to learn about carb-counting and dynamic-dosing and
I-don’t-know-what-else… I really haven’t learned anything in the past
15 years, and it sounds like there’s been a TON of information
discovered since then!

Laurie,
I know what you mean - I’ve learned a lot since joining 2 pump lists. They
think they teach you all they knew way back and new stuff comes along and
they forget you don’t know the new stuff!! You will like pumping, though.

Hi Brian,
I have been a diabetic for 43 years and on a pump for over 18 years. First
two were CPI, now on Minimed 506, trying to upgrade to a 508. Seems like
they like to give you alot of hassle now, I guess it is the insurance company.
Welcome.

well the insurance company just out right denied me for upgrades or repairs
on the pump so I am now going over the head of the insurance company and
now talking with the company that they are contracted with..

Brian,
I am upgrading out of necessity. I have had this pump for 6 or 7 yrs. and
my endo says that it is probably not working up to par. So it is not like I
just want a new one or that I am new to pumping. It is just a hassle on my
insurcance company’s part. But they are not going to shake me.
