know about lead poisoning?

Friday, March 26th, 2004

Does anyone know anything about lead poisoning? I have had severe back pains
since 3/23, mainly starting in the muscle above my left hip. My head/neck
are stiff, too. Went to ER Sunday where I was given pain pills and advised
to see dr. for exercises (!!!). Had Xrays Monday and saw endo Tuesday. He’s
ordered a bone scan for today (3/30). It may be a pinched sciatic nerve.

Then I got to thinking, a friend told me about a thing she has that she
freezes; she pours cold milk in it and drinks delicious icy-cold milk. I
have a ceramic mug I’ve been putting in the freezer and drinking milk from
it. It is great. I always wash/rinse it and put it back. When I get it out
of the freezer, it is always coated a funny white inside and my hugsband
accuses me of not cleaning it. Then he did it for me because of my pain –
it turned the exact same pattern of white after HIS expert cleaning.

Now I’m wondering, am I leeching lead and drinking it? Would it cause my

NUMBERS

I’ve learned telephone numbers, birthdates, social security numbers,
driver’s licenses, and fax numbers, but it wasn’t until recently that I
fully realized the impact of numbers in my life.
After two years of not feeling well and praying for more energy, my
doctor and I began the search for a cause. I woke up in the middle of the
night with a racing heart, a feeling that I was going to pass out and never
wake up again. Sometimes these spells came during the day, suddenly and
terrifyingly.
First came the blood pressure and pulse numbers to watch. Then came
the cholesterol and triglyceride counts. As a result, fat content numbers
and percentages were read, counted, and calculated.
Then came the new numbers that detailed the level of my blood sugar.
Results: High. Declaration: "Mrs. Lay, you are a diabetic."

3/29/00

Thursday, March 25th, 2004

Hi,
We’ve had to postpone the KPTX info meeting in Chicago for Wednesday,
3/29/00. I have had severe back pains since last Thursday and even went to
the ER on Sunday. Of course, as usual, I was told nothing is wrong: here are
some pain pills. See your dr. for exercises if not better in 4 days!!! Went
for Xrays on Monday, and today (Tuesday) saw my endo for help (had to get
past the receptionist first — she said, "but they gave you pills.*). I go
for a bone scan Thursday. It may be a pinched sciatic nerve - but my
head/neck are also bad off. I think it all stems from my fall flat backwards
in the solid, crushed stone driveway 9/23/00.

How God Selects The Mother Of A Child With Diabetes
by: Erma Bombeck

Most women become mothers by accident, some by choice,
a few by social pressures and a couple by habit. Did
you ever wonder how mothers of children with Diabetes
are chosen? Somehow I visualize God hovering over
Earth selecting his instruments for propagation with
great care and deliberation. As he observes, he
instructs his angels to make notes in a giant ledger.

"Armstrong, Beth, son. Patron Saint Matthew."
"Forrest, Marjorie, daughter. Patron Saint Cecilia."
"Rutledge, Carrie, twins. Patron Saint Gerard. He’s
used to profanity."

diabetes site

****************************************

Diabetes consumes 1 out of every 7 healthcare dollars.
Tell your Congressional Representatives to make it a priority to find a
cure.

1 out of every 20 people live with diabetes

There may be someone in your family with diabetes, yet how many friends with
diabetes do you know?
Why,
Because people with diabetes "choose not" to tell people what they suffer
with.
Why,
Because they lose jobs

diabeteswell.com & AtLast

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

Joan, I finally made it to the diabeteswell site and it’s great — TONS
of material I never knew!

My mom just sent me a clipping about a new blood-test device called
AtLast from Amira Medical ("uses a press-and-release motion to bring
blood to the surface. A reading shows in 15 seconds; it’s $62.95.") Has
anybody seen/tried this?

awful *ad*

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2004

I just saw one of the awfullest pictures about insulin pumps that I could
imagine. It took me a year to decide if I even wanted one - that was back
when i got the check-book box size one. But my March/April Diabetes Self
Management magazine came today; page 28 has a *drawing* of an infusion site
with a *hose* coming out of a belly. For the uneducated, it sure is a
turn-off! I think they could have used better wisdom in portraying a
site!!!!
