Feedback post from 1/13

Monday, December 22nd, 2003

Joan,
I was having server problems last night and saw a post today that didn’t make
sense to me. Therefore, I went to the archives and saw a post from you to me
about my friend’s friend and what may have caused her BG, etc.
Could you resend that post to me privately so I can clue my friend in and
she can decide whether or not to do something with it about her friend?
Thanks,
Jan

Janet Moyer (Bishop 1/15/00),
This is probably a very busy day for you, but want you to know I’m thinking
about you and your BIG day tomorrow.
Congratulations and let us know how you are adjusting as soon as you get
settled.

beeping pumps

I was under the impression that the D did NOT beep for boluses, only the MM.
Now it sounds as though they both do. True??

Buy American

Friday, December 12th, 2003

>If you believe in ‘buy American as much as possible, that is another
>advantage, but not one to be considered if the performance is not
>adequate.

Hmmm… is "buy American" strong in the US? So you don’t believe all people
in the world are equal, and should have equal opportunities in all markets?
If I grew some apples and offered them to you for sale, you would
discrminate against me because I am not American?

Squaring the wave [was: Re: Re: Re: Joan]

Thursday, December 11th, 2003

Interestingly I have *never* used the square-wave bolus on my 507 (apart
from just experimenting with it). I use Humalog, but for a "slow digesting"
meal I’m much happier giving myself a few units with the meal, and then a
few more units an hour or two later, depending on how rapidly I sense that
the food is moving through my stomach and digestive system, and depending
on how far my bg has gone up or down. Seems to give me the results I want,
and leaves me in control.

508 features from a 507C viewpoint

Thursday, December 11th, 2003

I got on the pump this past July with a Minimed 507C. It
has the illumination, which I have used to suspend the pump,
and program in a temp basal while walking at night. You can
program in as many temp basals as you want. I usually only
use that when I exercise. (I halve my basal rate for the
duration of the exercise).
With the 507C and the 508 (I’m assuming) you also have the
prime feature. Which allows you to prime the pump, without
that amount being added into your total daily basal or
bolus.
If your batteries do go completely out (My pump trainer had
her pump register LOW BATTERY for 2 or 3 days), all you have
to do is replace the battery. You only lose the memory. But,
like I said the pump tells you in plenty of time to replace
the batteries. You also get a 3-month supply of batteries
(more…)

Alisha and growth

Kathy,
Don’t be surprised if Alisha’s BGs go out of control during growth spurts.
Tweaking of basals will have to be done for that period of time(s).

feedback

Wednesday, December 10th, 2003

Here’s a snip:
Amanda and I have been close
friends since Jr High and I treasure that so I will back off and let it be.
I had thought of asking her to go with me to Houston to my doctors appt.
But
I have even decided to let that go. I know Dr. Tulloch would explain how
important it is she see an Endo but I am going to let it be. Did I tell you
her two hour test was 124? I still cannot believe they put her on 1000mg
for
that…..
