508 features from a 507C viewpoint
I got on the pump this past July with a Minimed 507C. It
has the illumination, which I have used to suspend the pump,
and program in a temp basal while walking at night. You can
program in as many temp basals as you want. I usually only
use that when I exercise. (I halve my basal rate for the
duration of the exercise).
With the 507C and the 508 (I’m assuming) you also have the
prime feature. Which allows you to prime the pump, without
that amount being added into your total daily basal or
bolus.
If your batteries do go completely out (My pump trainer had
her pump register LOW BATTERY for 2 or 3 days), all you have
to do is replace the battery. You only lose the memory. But,
like I said the pump tells you in plenty of time to replace
the batteries. You also get a 3-month supply of batteries
with your first pump.
I also really enjoy the square wave bolus, when my bs are
kinda of low at the beginning of a meal, I just put in a
square bolus to have it last a bit longer, while I eat,
instead of having to remember to program my bolus after I
eat.
