DM stuff

Yeah,
I got my 38th flu shot in October!! (how positive is that?) I came down with
*something* after my EPO shot 2 wks ago - chills, fever, aches, etc. that
lasted about 5 days. Thought I was getting better and then my 10.5 mo old
granddaughter came for 3 days and was pretty sick - whimpering and of COURSE
I held her. I got that on top of my low resistance.
If my family talked to me, they’d laugh at you saying I focus on the
positive because they think I’m very negative. But, then, they can (and
have) walk away from the DM stuff.

I guess I just have "good genes"! I honestly think being diabetic IMPROVES my
health because I’m forced to pay attention to my eating habits and lifestyle.
And tell your family that they just don’t appreciate what a delightful,
inspiring and upbeat person you are and refer them to me if they give you any
    garbage!!

I can’t tell them since they don’t talk to me any more. Son does therefore
his bb dau got me sick. ;) They’re all invited to my bash, doubt any will come nor acknowledge the
occasion. My son-in-law said once, "If we spend any amount of time with
you this subject will come up; no one cares to hear about you and you’re
going to die sooner than others anyway so you might as well just face it."

It’s hard to stay positive with that kind of support. I think I have good
genes too - thus the almost 50-yrs of this. I still believe if I hadn’t been
allowed to suffer 8 loooong years of boils, sties, and carbuncles beginning
at age 3 when my stepfather had boils and I probably got the infections from
him - my pancreas would not have been destroyed from that long term poison.
A penicillin shot when I as 4,5,6,7,8 etc. could have cured me and I’d be as
healthy as I look to be. But I was NOT ever taken to the doctor until 6 days
before the coma (the dog went to the vet, though).

    Hey, I’ll send my pic!

Obviously you are using the term "support" very loosely when it comes to family
members! I’m very lucky–my family gives me all the support I could ever want,
my fiancé has been by my side on everything since we met, and my friends and
family are constantly telling me how much they admire my dedication to my
diabetes care. They’re a great group–I’m sure most of my nervousness about
getting married is due to the move to Cleveland, away from my whole family and
all friends. But, I think they are all with me in spirit, so actual physical
    proximity isn’t necessary!
