problems with pump site

Tuesday, September 30th, 2003

I’ve been having some problems with my pump sites. They get itchy after a
day and when i take it off after 3 days my skin is dry and i have sores. I
have switched my adhesive to the kind for sensitive skin, but i realized it
the little "wings" on the tubbing that are irritating my skin, and the side
witht the anitbacterial strip seems to be doing the most damage. I’m thinking
that i might be allergic to the anitbacterial, does anyone know what i might
be able to make this itching bearble, or something?
Do well and doubt not

batteries

Wednesday, September 24th, 2003

The SofSerter does make a difference. As far as batteries go, I get about 8
weeks out of my 3 little batteries my MiniMed 507c requires. I do anything
manually that I can to not deplete battery power. Filling the 42" tubing by
pushing it through with the plunger until I see a drip saves power. Then I
place the syringe in the pump and put the locking levers down as closely as
I can to it. Then I set a basal at 10u which is the *back end* of a bolus
(using down arrow key — not going up to 10). I press ACT until I see it
begin to come through the needle — then press STOP. Every *beep* I can
eliminate, and as much power as I don’t use helps preserve battery power.

tenders

Sunday, September 21st, 2003

HI…I am in line for an insulin pump and have recently joined this list to
learn more about it. What are the definitions of "infusion" and "tenders,
comforts"///Thanks

Comforts?

Friday, September 19th, 2003

There’s a company in Denmark called Maersk who make infusion sets. They
don’t sell them direct to the public, but package them up for other
companies. When MiniMed sell them, they are called Silhouettes; when
Disetronic sell them, they are called Tenders; when Braun sell them, they
are called Comforts (at least that’s the company name in Germany -
sometimes they trade under different names in different countries). Apart
from the brand name on the back of the package, it is the identical product
inside. So Comfort = Tender = Silhouette.

My pestering HELPED

Wednesday, September 17th, 2003

HEY, Gang!
I know I was a pest about voting for JDF and research monies. BUT, look
which one came out on top!!
Thanks for the votes. Let’s hope this makes a dent in the cure time. Merry
Christmas.

The staff of AccentHealth is very pleased to announce the winners of our
Juvenile Charity Donation program!
On October 1, 1999 accenthealth.com announced that we would donate $100,000
to five juvenile charities. All site visitors, from October through
November, were invited to vote for their favorite charity and to nominate a
child for a $1,000 grant towards medical expenses. All votes have now been
tallied and…

Kathy,
I think you can print the entire page if you change your print settings to
landscape for that site.

strips

Sunday, September 14th, 2003

I have a *museum* of evolution of diabetes products since1950. If someone
has a box without the canister of Advantage Accu Chek strips (RED ones) I
would surely appreciate having just the BOX — flattened and sent to me in
an envelope with 1-5 strips. I plan
to have a display for my 11/4/00 50th anniversary bash. I believe I was
instrumental in getting the Comfort Curve style (blue) as I was in the test
study and it took 3-5 strips to get ONE good test!! I complained that you
couldn’t
see to put red blood on a red patch.
The remaining strips could remain safely in the canister. It’s only the
carton and a couple of strips I’m interested in.
Let me know what I need to do.
Thanks,

Jan Hughey
