Just general chit chat -Reply

Sunday, April 13th, 2003

Chris-
I have the exact same situation monthly, although I think I
get more like 4 days of highs. I find that if I stay away from
high-fat foods (I know, I should be staying away anyway!)
and make sure to get plenty of exercise, I usually can keep
from the really high numbers. As for the lows when you start,
I haven’t found any really good solutions other than testing
more frequently and being conservative about covering
carbs when bolusing.

Just general chit chat

Tuesday, April 8th, 2003

I am on my second pump. I must have been asleep when they talked about
sites. I have used, abd., upper thighs, butt, and arms. When I went
through orientation for hospital position the diabetic educator spoke to
us. That is when I heard to stay with the abd. for more stable Bld.
sugars.
I started using just my abd. about 2 months ago. It had helped. The only
times the blood sugars go "haywire" is 2 days before menes begins (very
high) and right when I start (nose dive).
Pardon me, I was just rambling. I appreciate the comments from fellow
pumpers.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks, Gail,
it’s been 16 years for me on pump in about 5 wks. :- ) I used to give
injections in stomach (Type I since 1950) until I considered pump, then gave it
up for a year to give it a rest. However, I probably leave the infusion set in
too long (4-5 days) and am now getting absorption problems.

Also, we women have a problem seeing around our sides because of b _ _ _ _.
Men don’t have that situation. :- )

Put my Sof-set in my *flank*. Not sure I like it - too much spare tire and my
arm rubs it. Maybe I didn’t hit it right?

I haven’t received anything from this list since 7/12. Did I hit a wrong button
somewhere and disconnect — or is no one out there? ?- |
