Hi,
My name is Bob; I’m an insulin dependant diabetic of 27 years. I came across
your group while searching for information on weight training and diabetes. I
was specifically interested in topics regarding the increased demand for protein
consumption for rebuilding muscle and its potential consequences for damaged
kidneys. I know this is a very complex and highly individual question as each of
us is unique with respect to complications and current health, but I figured why
not try? I will be speaking to my Nephrologist on this topic but any
information before the appointment would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I have been using an insulin pump for about 10 months and
I love it! The only problem I seem to be having is that my blood
sugars bottom out during my menstural periods (sometimes as low as the
40’s, believe it or not I’m still awake when this happens). Does
anyone have any suggestions? Thanks. Cindy.
Hi, I am a new member, and I finally got the insurance to pay for a pump.
I am going to a "pump class" next Monday, and the Monday after that, I
will start on the pump. Does anyone have any advice for a new pump user?
Thanks,
Kari
The carb counting is frustrating in the beginning and becomes easier as you
get used to doing it. The toughest part is when you have to go out and eat,
that is the area where I have the hardest part with and I have been doing
this for close to 3 years.
Good Luck Selam and lets us know how you are doing

I was diagnosed with diabetes 9 years ago. I started using the pump
exactly 18 days ago, and I am amazed at how easy it is for me to
control my sugars. I can exercise and not get low sugars. i have
much more freedom, and much less frustration with highs and lows. My
sugars have been in the normal range 90% of the time this past week.
Although the first week and half were tough trying to find the
balance. I am also finding the "carb counting" frustrating. I am
slowly getting adjusted to it. I think this was the best decision
that I have made in regards to my diabetes. I am a medical student
and it is really sad to see patients blind, amputated limbs and on
dialysis. I am glad that there is something that I can do to prevent
that happening to me.
I really can not speak for other people but only for myself. I was diagnosed
with diabetes 21 years ago and have had an impossible time getting my sugar
levels where they need to be, My Hga1c levels were very high, the pump help
bring those numbers below 7. This is not to say that any system is the
perfect one but it has been the best method for me.
If other people would like to respond to this question Please do.
Thank You
Frank
